Its difficult to describe music with words. Therefore it is better to listen to our three albums crosstunes, chronicles and 3rd right here via the Internet, to get an idea about our music. If you prefere the traditional side of the MacLeods «Talk in the Pub» would be a good starting point. If you like it more rocky you should listen to the «Life is Like a Song». And if you are interested in the combination of Irish Folk and world music «The Trooper and the Maid» could be the right title for you. But if want to get the whole musical range of the MacLeods, you have to listen to all of our songs (or buy the CDs right now...).
If you prefere words, you may read on:
The outstanding features of the unique MacLeods sound are the breathtaking fiddle dialogues, the combination of various musical styles and the alternating use of the different voices and instruments. In addition to traditional accustic instruments drums, electric guitar and bass play an important role. And so the sound gets a nice rocky feeling. The musical range extends from jazz/rock sounds, to speedy Jigs and Reels and soft Ballads. The elaborated arrangements are as various as the characters of the songs. You can hear it on the two albums of the MacLeods: crosstunes (1998) chronicles (2000) and 3rd (2002)
